Welcome to Soaring Tortoise! We're glad you stopped by. Travel and travel planning is one of our true joys in life, from the most popular tourist destinations to those hidden gems far from the beaten path. We like to be prepared before hitting the road, but also relish in having options to pivot, adjust, and improvise on the go. We started this site to give a little back to all those like us who share tips, insights, and practicalities that make a good trip go a bit smoother, to let us enjoy the moments, and avoid the hiccups or unwelcome surprises that can turn a great trip into a real bummer.

We've been traveling together for over 2 decades, from bucket list adventures like hiking the Inca trail in Machu Picchu to easy-going weekend getaways near home along Florida's Space Coast, we are always thinking about the next opportunity to escape the daily grind to discover new places, foods, drinks, and experiences.

We are lucky to share a home base with a rotating cast of Gopher tortoises. It's always a treat to walk out the back door to find one of these ancient-looking friends methodically stalking clover flowers and grasses for their midday meal. Two of the most charismatic are Archibald, the elder statesman of the sand ridge, and The Flash, obviously known for his speed. Soaring Tortoise gives these land-bound creatures the opportunity to globe trot and a platform to share their journeys, which we are convinced is what they would really love, given the chance.
